About the Learning Resource Center
1. Introduction
Liwa College has established a proper library on two campuses (Abu Dhabi and Al Ain). The purpose of the Liwa College Library is to provide students, faculty, and staff with all the information resources and services required to support educational programs. The Liwa College Library provides modern facilities and equipment for all its users. With a capacity for two hundred beneficiaries at a time, the circulation and reference desk are available right at the entrance. The Liwa College Library provides internet facilities to all its users and contains nine study rooms, 33 reading tables, and 185 chairs available to students in both libraries, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

Mission: Supporting the educational process and academic programs at Liwa College by providing the latest printed and electronic information sources.
2. Library Holdings
Liwa College Library provides an adequate library collection, including books, periodicals, databases, and other learning resources in both traditional and electronic formats to support educational research and academic programs.
a. Printed Sources:
- Books: The libraries on both campuses contain more than 28,000 copies of reference books covering all subject areas in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Books are arranged on shelves according to the Library of Congress classification system.
- Newspapers: The library subscribes to various local newspapers in English and Arabic.
- Faculty Research Publications: The library displays a collection of faculty research publications within the library and is also available on the college website through the library’s electronic portal.
b. Electronic Resources: The Liwa College Library subscribes to four databases, namely, EBSCO, GALE, Al-Manhal, and E-book Central, which includes 439,284 electronic books in addition to 110,969 electronic periodicals and electronic magazines. These resources are accessible for research both inside and outside the college.
c. Textbooks: The library provides electronic and printed textbooks for all subject areas, sourced from multiple international publishers.

5. Library Rules and Policies

6. External Agreements
Liwa College Libraries has an Inter-Library loan agreement with Abu Dhabi University Library to enable interlibrary loan services, article requests, and library use.
Scope of agreement:
- Use of library facilities including reading spaces, reference services, and the Internet.
- Interlibrary loan including books and articles from print as well as electronic journals.
- Collaborating in professional development programs for library staff.
- Access databases while users are physically present on campus.
- Share best practices with stakeholders in areas of common interest.
- Annual meeting between library directors, to discuss matters of common interest and implement this memorandum of understanding.
7. Cross-Campus Borrowing Procedures
Liwa College Library users can borrow reference books from other Liwa College Library branches (Abu Dhabi and Al Ain) if the book/books are not available in the campus's library. Listed below are the procedures:
- Verify the availability of the requested book/books through OPAC or the library’s circulation desk.
- If books are not available, please request them from the librarian.
- The librarian coordinates among themselves to provide books to students.
- Books can be issued and returned in Koha via the desired library.
- Once the book(s) are available on campus through internal transportation, the user will receive an email or phone call from the librarian.
- The user must receive the book within three days once the user receives the call from the library.
- The user can keep the book in accordance with the library borrowing policy.
- Books can be returned to their library.
